One New Catalogue Reviewed This Month

- by Michael Stillman

One new catalogue from Langdon Manor Books.

It is well known that August is a favorite month for vacations, particularly among those of greater means who get to choose their time. The result is the number of catalogues mailed at this time of year drops off. Add to that a natural decline in printed catalogues, a consequence of it being so much easier to produce and send electronic catalogues, and that spells some real downtime. This month, we received only one new catalogue to review, but it is an outstanding one. Langdon Manor Books, which specializes in “the extraordinary history of the every day,” has a catalogue that is far more extraordinary than every day. These may be accounts of every day people, but they lived through extraordinary events and times. They earned your attention.
