Auction houses are finding more consignors and interesting material to sell.
Leland Little Auctions is expanding their services to the rare book community by hiring book specialist Emily Kerrigan.
Here is her story:
Emily is an art historian and book specialist living in North Carolina. She grew up in a family of collectors, historians, artists, and booksellers. Inspired by them, she studied history and art in college, later earning her MA in Art History from the University of Massachusetts and completing her PhD coursework at the University of Iowa where she focused on early American modernism and the Stieglitz Circle.
After working in museums and teaching art history for nearly two decades, she worked at Alexander Rare Books focusing on poetry, fine press, and signed literary first editions. She continues to combine her interest in both art history and books by studying and collecting illustrated books, exhibition catalogues, photography books, artists' books, and other materials related to art and art history.
In 2022, she studied rare and antiquarian books at the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar. The following year, she accepted a position in the Historical Department at Leland Little Auctions where she enjoys working as a cataloguer and book specialist.
Leland Little Auctions is a well-staffed regional firm with the ability to handle complex estates as well as specialty collections. Their auctions with collectible paper appear in Rare Book Hub’s worldwide upcoming auction lot search. When you find something appealing in their upcoming listings on our site, you’ll be reading her handiwork.
