Australian Book Auctions, founded in 1999, is Australia's only specialist auction house for rare books, manuscripts, and historical and literary properties.Since its foundation, Australian Book Auctions has conducted a regular series of general sales. In addition, Australian Book Auctions has conducted sales of important private collections, including the collections of Dr. Eric Stock, Ian F. McLaren AO, Dr H.N.B. Wettenhall AO, John Roxburgh, Syd Trigellis-Smith AO, K.F. Plomley, Dr. Ben Haneman, Sir Robert Southey, A. and R. Bradfield, and Dr. J.M. Harrison. Australian Book Auctions has also been entrusted with the sale of duplicates from the famous Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts (State Library of Tasmania), as well as other major institutional collections.Australian Book Auctions has also handled the sale of highly important literary and historical properties, including an archive of original manuscripts by multiple Booker-Prize winner Mr. Peter Carey, the prosecution Brief for the Trial of Edward "Ned" Kelly, and the family archive of the noted detective novelist, Arthur Upfield.
