Description "The late Colonel Charles L. F. Robinson, of Hartford, Conn., was well known as a liberal and discriminating collector of rare books. Many volumes from the Hoe and Huth collections were secured by him and his library became exceedingly interesting and important.

But it was as a collector of rare Americana that Colonel Robinson was best known, and with the sole exception of the duplicates recently sold for Mr. Henry E. Huntington, this is the finest collection of early books on America that has come on the market in many years." From the sale preface
