Description Part One of Mr. Field's Collection of Books were sold at Auction on May 24, 1875 and in the following days by Bangs, Merwin & Co. Total 2663 lots.
A Supplementary Sale was conducted on May 29, 1875 by Bangs, Merwin & Co. Total 661 lots.

Part Two of the Field auctions were conducted seven years later on May 22, 23, and 24, 1882 by Geo. A. Leavitt & Co. Total 1470 Lots

The prices realized were very low and were very disappointing to Mr. Field. They are omitted here not because they were low but because the several sets of written prices we have obtained do not match.
Scope of Text Part One including collection of books relating to the American Indians, collections of historical societies and American history and biography in general.

Supplement including books omitted in Part One, also valuable manuscripts and a collection of books relating to America from another collection.
Part Two including an interesting collection of bibliography, curious and interesting books of anecdote, travel, etc. and the entire remainder of Mr. Field's collection of Americana, historical pamphlets, books relating to the Indians, Spanish-American history, etc.
